Enough is Enough

Dec 6 2006

Well, first of all, I’m making a blog post after being AWOL for about 2 months. I’ve been busier in the last 2 months than I thought I could ever be, and had a hard time reconciling what I needed to do with finding time to post on the blog. (more on that later)

I came in early this morning to do a quick few things before Doba’s Executive Strategy Retreat today at Sundance, and I read something that I had to comment on, to someone, somewhere.

I can’t take it anymore. For the past many months, maybe years, I’ve been seeing things that just defy any sort of logic, and enough is enough. The politicians in this country are off the reservation. They’re in left field. Their heads are in the clouds. Pick any saying that describes people way out of touch with reality, and it applies.

Read for yourself: 5-day work week is a Capitol Hill culture shock

Well boo hoo.

“Keeping us up here eats away at families,” said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. “Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families — that’s what this says.”

Are you serious? Quit pissing and moaning and making it about Democrats versus Republicans. If you want to be elected to Congress, maybe family shouldn’t be first priority. Maybe your constituents? Maybe your country? If you can’t do it, don’t run for office. It is an ‘optional’ thing to do last time I checked. If you have enough money to run for office, and can’t handle a ‘five-day’ work week, then go golfing. Let other people who want to actually WORK to solve our country’s and the worlds problems go to Washington. Please.

And to Rep. Steny H. Hoyer who is implementing this change, all I can say is: AMEN!
