Personal Time

Tonight, I went on a 6 mile hike with Brandon Delgrosso, Doba’s VP of Marketing, in the Timpanogos Wilderness Area that is about 20 minutes from where I live. It was a great hike, and while I could chalk it up to the Doba Fitness Challenge as it was quite a workout, the real reason that I jumped at the chance to go when Brandon asked me was because I’ve realized that most weeks, I spend very little of my time for myself.

Now I do get out on a week-long trip here and there, and those are great times for me to do a major recharge of my batteries. I typically am able to put work and business out of my mind after about the 3rd day in the woods. But I think I need to do better at shorter clear the mind outings. I always struggle with picking anything to do above work, but I think I do a pretty good job spending time with my family. Adventure Buddies helps me a lot with that prioritization and focus on my family.

So our hike tonight took us just over 2 hours, and I feel great! I’m going to work more of this micro-outings into my time. Hopefully next Friday, I’ll be able to go with my good friend Chris Knudsen on his once a month outing that he’s calling Mountainpalooza. I don’t believe that it is a selfish thing to try and work time into hectic schedules for yourself. As with regular exercise, it helps recharge the mind and keep you going 110 miles an hour.
